CPD Audit
Every College running a MOPS program is required to audit a percentage of Fellows annually. Normally this is around 10% of all returns. This procedure is crucial in demonstrating maintenance of a high quality MOPS program. Fellows are therefore required to provide documentation to validate their claim for assessment by the MOPS Committee.
In general, documentation required must contain the Fellow's name, a date relevant to the year claiming points, identification of the activity, duration of the activity, identification of the organisation (and at times, its credentials) to provide the activity, and finally, some indication that the Fellow did participate in the activity.
Examples of documents as follows:
- Receipts or letters confirming attendance at conferences, meetings or courses;
- Program of the conference or scientific meeting, clearly identifying the organising body, duration of the conference, and papers that have occupational medicine content (usually with speakers listed);
- Letter confirming presentation of a paper at a conference, chairing a session or participating in an expert panel;
- Program identifying Fellow as speaker, chairperson or panel expert;
- Minutes of a committee meeting identifying attendance of Fellow at meeting;
- Annual attendance summary signed by Chairperson of a committee;
- Letter from editor or publisher identifying in what journal or book a Fellow's work is to be published;
- Copies of the first page of an article or book chapter (or book), identifying the Fellow as author, and the publication journal;
- Teaching activities, such as lecturing, supervisor of trainees, examiner, require a letter of appointment or acknowledgement for delivering the activity.
Some scientific meetings or seminars do not provide letters confirming registration or attendance. In such circumstances, any documentation that provides the same information and signature of a member of the organising body can be sent. If you are randomly picked for Audit, please send the appropriate paperwork clearly cross-referenced to its activity.
